Web App Design
Overview
On this project I served as the UX/UI Designer on a team for Avanade’s Ignition Program. This project centered around giving Avanade new-hires a mock client project focused on an insurance software solution for an insurance company. As the the UX/UI Designer on the client-facing project simulation, I collaborated with a diverse group made up of software engineers, data analysts, and a business analyst.

Process
discovery: From the onset of the project, I worked alongside the Business Analyst to gather project requirements from the client. With insights gained from initial client meetings, I developed personas in order to embody specific user needs. In addition to identifying user pain points, I carried out an analysis of similar existing applications in order to understand what features were useful to current users and where improvements could be made.
defining -> ideating: Once preliminary research was completed, I created storyboards, sketches, and mockups in order to map out the user journey. Throughout the project, I received and responded to feedback from the client as well as different team members in order to ensure that the design solution met user needs and was technically feasible. While iterating through the designs, I worked closely with front-end and back-end developers in order to ensure that the fleshed out application embodied the design needs identified by the client and research.
prototype: As I gained insight into key user needs, I translated initial sketches into wireframes and mockups that I iterated upon as we received feedback during grooming sessions with the client. The design solution I developed involved agent and manager dashboards where insurance agents could review recent quotes and their performance and managers could view recent quotes as well as broader company performance data insights. In designing the web application, I ensured that key core functionality for both agents and managers was consistent throughout the experience. Additionally, I incorporated design solutions that were specific to the individual user journeys of agents and managers.
